Upon arriving at The Red Palm Villas it's easy to see our attempt to counter our impact on the environment. We have taken major endeavors to minimize the foot print we created as a result of building the structures on this piece of land. 

We have planted over 400 trees on this property and as a result we have achieved a Carbon Neutral or a ZERO Carbon effect. What that means is our consumption of electricity and gas have more than been countered by the planting of trees which in the end reduce the amount of carbon in our atmosphere.

Since arriving on this property in 2002 we have not cut one tree to build our amazing Frank Lloyd Wright inspired villas. Actually, we planted more than 20 species and over 400 trees, several thousand flowering bushes and another several thousand plants and flowers.

Just this year alone we added over 500 new plants and trees to our already amazing gardens. Our gardens are lush and pumping oxygen back into the atmosphere. Our land is definitely oxygen rich, maybe each time you take a breath you can actually feel it, we can, we call it clean fresh air, something most people know little about any longer.

In a total act of respect to the wildlife on this property we have used less than 10% of our valuable and available land for building. We are the lowest density ratio of land to building in the entire commercial community. Over 90% of our land has been placed into a voluntarily state of preservation.

You may or may not be aware but, Santa Teresa is a water sensitive area. What does this mean? It means there is not enough water in this region for everyone who lives here. More than one half of this community has a water line with NO water in it the entire year. What do these poor people do? That's a very good question. What they do is they live many days a month with little or no water. The water they receive comes from a truck, it is purchased like gasoline, by the gallon, it's very expensive, they buy it when they can afford to.

Maybe you have noticed we do NOT have a pool. We couldn't do that to a water challenged community with a clear conscious. In just one week most pools consume more water than an entire typical family in a one year period. With our AMAZING Blue Flag Awarded beach right out front, honestly, who needs a pool full of chemicals and chlorine?

The Red Palm Villas practices the recycling of our washer machine and shower water, (it's called gray water), we triple filter it and then pump it up the hill behind the villas for irrigating our nursery and gardens.

We kindly ask our guests to use all the water and electricity you need but remember, each drop, every kilowatt used, it all has a negative impact on the planet.  Please shut off water taps when you are through, close the bedroom door when the AC is on, shut off lights when not in use, turn off the AC and fans when you leave the homes.

All of our appliances have high energy efficient ratings, we clean our AC filters weekly, we have water catch systems for the rainy season, we recycle our gray water, we use environmentally friendly soaps and cleaning supplies, we purchase products with minimum packaging, we buy in bulk, we support GREEN companies.

By recycling water, hang drying wash, using dimmer switches when applicable, we're doing all we can to help minimize the impact our business and homes have on the environment. We ask you to join us in conservation and preservation as in the end we all share this planet and its valuable limited resources.

Our desire is thirty, fifty, even one-hundred years from now, after we're all long gone, that Santa Teresa will still be a place our children's children can come to enjoy these amazing natural, beautiful, pristine beaches. It all starts with small efforts of conservation, every little bit helps.

In closing, if you checked out our video you will have noticed The Red Palm Villas Mascots which includes 5 dogs, one cat and a crippled squirrel.   All these animals are rescue animals.

We really don't see a difference when it comes to living things.  People, animals, plants, all deserve respect and compassion.  From a plant who may need a little water to a dog who is in need of medicine, food and love,

With exception to Skippy our squirrel, all our animals are spayed or neutered. 

The Red Palm Villas has been an active sponsor of animal spay and neuter clinics and have sponsored over 50 dogs in the past 7 years.
