We are located on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, Central America, on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula. When you land in San Jose you have the following options to get here:
Flying to Tambor : There are two Costa Rican airlines, Sansa Airlines and Nature Air, with service from San Jose to Tambor Regional Airport (the closest town with an airport). The flight is approximately 30 minutes daily and is very safe. We can arrange for a taxi to pick you up at the airport for $50, or the rental car of your choice waiting for you.
Drive: Total time is 5 hours including a 90-minute ferry ride.
Renting a car, you should rent a 4-wheel drive during the “Green” season. From San Jose drive to Puntarenas where you take the “Tambor” or "Peninsular" ferry to Paquera, across the Gulf of Nicoya. Drive west through Tambor and Cobano to the Mal Pais/ Santa Teresa Crossroads, turn right.
Drive past the village center of Santa Teresa and keep going north for two more kilometers, keep your eye out for a hand made sign on the left that says Roca Mar, pass three bungalows by the road and look for our sign on the left. It’s big, not to be missed. If you see Milarepa and Flor Blanca go back 50 mts.
Shuttle Service: We can arrange for a shuttle to pick you up at the San Jose airport or your hotel and bring you to the Red Palms, the cost is $235 , four persons maximum. For groups this is an easy way to get here, especially if traveling with surfboards. The shuttle will take approximately 5 hours from San Jose. 90 minutes of the journey will be on a scenic ferryboat.
